Revealing Abba in Psalm 79

Abba, those who run after other gods to their own hurt, have brought
their ways into Your beloved to defile Your people who are called by
Your name, Your holy temple; bringing destruction and laying Jerusalem
in heaps; The dead bodies of Your beloved have become fuel for those who reproach Your name; seeing the flesh of Your saints devoured by beasts; Their blood is shed like water; with no one left to bury them or to avenge their blood; Your people who are called by Your name have become a reproach to their neighbors who have not known You; a scorn and derision to those who are round about them; How long Abba will you hide Your face? Will Your anger burn forever against the way that serves Your beloved with death? Will not Your jealousy burn it up like fire? Let Us run with fury and the fire of Your passion against the way that brings death, that all people and nations who have not known You would call upon Your name; For iniquity has devoured Your beloved, and Your house, which is called by Your name, has it made a den of thieves; robbing men of Your inheritance; O Abba, let us bring an end to iniquity and death and all that is contrary to Your life; where there will be no more remembrance; let Your tender mercies and Your everlasting kindness toward Me in giving Me Your life and immortality as an inheritance; be their sure hope as well: trusting and resting in Your strength and not their own; Strengthen Me; O Abba My salvation; for the glory of Your name, to deliver men from death and all that sought to harm them; purging their conscience from laboring and toiling for life; giving them Your life as an inheritance; for Your name's sake; Therefore, should those who run after other gods, that could never conquer their death or serve them with life, say; where is their God? Let You Abba be known to them through Me and My testimony; how that I have avenged their blood; by conquering their death; Let the groaning for life of those who were held captive in death's reign come before You, and according to the greatness of Your power, preserve their life; And in Me; render Your judgment against any other way unto life, that the heart of those who have not known You might see that You, Abba have completely removed their death in Me; So that the sheep of Your pasture Abba, would give thanks to Your name forever; and My life at Your right hand will show forth the glory of Your inheritance to all generations. |
